Quick little catch up...

Hello strangers, long time no see, no speak or no social interaction. I am the most anti social person I know and even I am missing people now. I’m not a big drinker either but I would love to partake in a few chilled glasses of vino with my pals in a pub or a restaurant-or even just around the kitchen table.

I must start off this post with an apology - the Wives and Knives team has been plunged into a purgatory of sorts recently and you may have noticed that we have been absent and not updating the blog or many of the socials.

We were busy creating content for the podcast and editing the material we had already recorded, back when we could meet up for sessions; we were being super organised and we were smashing it! And then I got diagnosed with Cancer....

I mean seriously, are you kidding me? Could 2020 get any worse?

What started with a routine check up at the GP then snowballed into an overwhelming whirlwind of hospital appointments, scans and a myriad of tests. Which culminated with me being whisked into surgery not long after my initial diagnosis.

I’ve worked for the NHS for over a decade now, I’m used to working in a hospital environment and I have no issue speaking to NHS colleagues at any level, but I have serious anxiety when I am a patient. I am a terrible patient! Procedures of any kind make me freak out and I become upset and frustrated if I have to be a ‘patient’. The idea of having major surgery and having to stay in hospital for a week minimum is my worst nightmare.

And it was.

I’m not going to go into all the gross & grim realities of my Surgery and subsequent recovery - this isn’t a Cancer & Crime Blog, but what I will do is tell you that I am now currently cancer free and whilst I will have to have regular checks, I don’t currently need to have any further treatment.

I have to shout out to the wonderful NHS obviously, the food was utter shit but they truly have been the most supportive and ultimately; they have saved my life.

I couldn’t have gotten through it without Gaz, my family and my friends, and boy don’t you know who your friends are through times like this. The Wives have been with me throughout and they know how much I love them all. Special mentions to Vicki, Beth & Debs - you ladies have been amazing.

I am grateful, I am lucky and I appreciate you all.

Yep, so there you have it guys - that’s why we may be a little behind schedule now and are gonna have to re schedule all the episodes we’ve missed planning, researching and recording so that we can get back on track.

We do however have some very exciting news, in that the very first episode of the podcast is now available on Spotify. The second episode will follow shortly after and then hopefully we can record the next episodes via zoom or the like. We still don’t have the theme music recorded, however we do have an amazing band on board to help us.. watch this space.

Please come and join us over on the socials, it would be great to hear from you. Do you have any cases you’d like us to cover?

- Until then, look after yourself and stay safe. Lots of love Kelly xxx. (and the rest of the team)
